News release: International human smuggling ring dismantled

FINTRAC’s financial intelligence was recognized by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in an investigation into a large-scale human smuggling ring. The investigation revealed that the group funneled illegal migrants into the United States in the area around Cornwall, Ontario. The migrants were allegedly charged thousands of dollars by the smugglers. As a result of the investigation, four people have been arrested and arrest warrants have been issued for four additional suspects.
