Serious Fraud Office welcomes two new non-executive directors

The Serious Fraud Office is today announcing the appointment of two new board members, Caroline Firstbrook and Simon McKinnon CB CBE. They both take up their posts today (Oct 1) and are initially appointed to serve a three-year term.  

Caroline Firstbrook   

Caroline brings a wealth of experience in professional services and entrepreneurship, having served as Chief Operating Officer at the law firm Clifford Chance LLP for over seven years until 2022. She has been a Non-Executive Director at the maritime organisation Lloyd’s Register since 2015. Caroline has also held senior leadership positions at both Monitor Company and Accenture plc and has founded companies in the agribusiness and biotech sectors.

Caroline said: “I am excited to be joining the SFO Board at such an interesting time, and I look forward to contributing my experience and insights in ways that will add meaningful value to the organisation.”

Simon McKinnon CB CBE  

Simon has extensive experience in technology leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. He spent sixteen years in the public sector responsible for child maintenance, health and pensions systems. Most recently, he was Director General Digital and the Chief Digital Information Officer at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), responsible for the delivery and transformation of national benefit systems. His previous experience included roles at PwC, Global Asset Management and a range of entrepreneurial businesses. 

Simon said: “I’m excited by the opportunity to support the critical and specialist services the SFO provides, particularly given the increasing impact and opportunity of emerging technologies.”

Between them they bring an extensive amount of experience from across the public and private legal sectors and have expertise in technology and operations.
