Did you catch our poll on Tuesday?

We asked how many Deferred Prosecution Agreements (DPAs) there have been in England and Wales to date. 36% of you got the correct answer: 13✔️

Under a DPA, charges against a company are “deferred” for a period of time, during which the company agrees to conditions such as fines, compensation payments and corporate compliance programmes. If they break the terms, they run the risk of being prosecuted.

Want to know why DPAs are important? Hear from Serious Fraud Office case controller Elizabeth Collery below on how DPAs help tackle financial crime ⬇️

Today, we launched our new Corporate Guidance to provide clearer information for organisations that suspect wrongdoing.

Corporates that report promptly and fully cooperate can expect to be invited to negotiate a DPA rather than face prosecution.
