FINTRAC’s financial intelligence was recognized in a drug trafficking investigation by the RCMP Hamilton-Niagara Regional Detachment. The searches uncovered 6.3kg of cocaine, with a street value of $170,000 and approximately $2,000,000 in Canadian currency, which has been seized as suspected proceeds of crime. As a result of the investigation, three individuals have been charged. With the financial transaction reports received from Canadian businesses across the country, FINTRAC is providing valuable assistance to law enforcement and national security investigations.
